Come join Waccamaw Siouan STEM Studio, as we present the first Elder Lounge at the 2026 North Carolina American Indian Unity Conference held March 4th - 6th located at the Hilton Raleigh North Hills in the Private Dining Room. We honor our elders by providing space and an atmosphere that fosters the simple act of being together. Its in these moments, stories and memories are shared and new ones created. Those memories can be shared amongst friends only or shared in our drop-in recording studio to live on beyond the conference. We are not only providing space, but an opportunity to make memories over our new Makerspace. It's a designated space with hand quilting with friends that's sure to spark the imagination and material for making quilted Christmas ornaments and prayer ties to give. We are offering free headshots with S&S Photography and an opportunity to taste Indigenous Foods with Atkowa on Thursday.
In addition, the Hooheh Reforestation team will be onsite sharing there newly released documentary on Wednesday evening and new swag bag items will be released each day.
We are grateful for our partnership with United Tribes in hosting the Unity Conference and the opportunity to impact our elders beyond our own tribal communities.
This event is sponsored by Waccamaw Siouan STEM Studio, Waccamaw Siouan Tribe, Hooheh Reforestation & Cultural Burn Program, S&S Photography, Atkowa and United Tribes of North Carolina.
